Not much to say. I managed to drop a large, heavy object squarely on my right big toe midweek, which helped neither my word count nor my driving income while I sat with my foot up and iced, and tried to find a way to type without dislodging either foot or ice.
Also not helping is discovering that my remote desktop plus Scrivener solution is not working well — since iOS 8, keystrokes are getting dropped in transmission half the time. It’s not a iOS v. Bluetooth keyboard issue — Heaven knows that has been a problem in the past, but no. The keystrokes are dropped even when I use the on-screen keyboard. Nor is it a Scrivener issue — it happens when I try to use any Mac app remotely. So it’s back to synchronizing with Dropbox and using an iPad app to edit. Not that I don’t know how to do that (see my series of workflows) but the time I wasted troubleshooting something that just plain isn’t working any time soon — well, I can’t get it back.
Yeah, I’m pretty discouraged right now, and I don’t even have the excuse of being a third of the way into my novel to blame.
But I will keep plugging. It’s 3,014 words of a draft that I wouldn’t otherwise have, after all.
